The "Little Esss" breathing exercise is a variation of the "sustained Ess: exercise in my other video. This is another fantastic way to build strength in your diaphragm muscles and to learn how to control your air flow while singing. The "Little Esss" is a dynamic strength builder for your abdominal muscles and for diaphragm control. It also helps strengthen your breath control for short powerful notes. A lesson on how to false chord scream (see title) Here's a rundown of how to learn the technique: Heavy sigh (0:37) Practice that until you can do it without the sigh sound, but keep the distortion (this is your growl) Try to raise the pitch of the growl a little at a time, but practice a lot There you go
This is an overview on some of the screams I do that 'sound like Alexi' from Children Of Bodom. I just woke up, so give me a break lol. In this video, I discuss a few of my influences, mainly Alexi lol, and I also show how I do my vocals for "Needled 24/7" by Children Of Bodom. It's my first vocal lesson, I would call it more of an intro to my vocals, but eh..Comments are welcome! The camera quality is bad and hopefully I will be able to release MUCH BETTER ones in the future! Just KEEP ROCKIN'!!!!
This lesson is just a basic outline of how to tackle screaming in order to develop your voice into something you can call your own and be proud of. I try to explain why learning through techniques is very harmful. The basic philosophy I take towards screaming is to just apply age-old singing concepts to a heavier form of vocal work. The video features a sample from Wrong Side by Strapping Young Lad.
Teil 2... ACHTUNG! Ihr seid selber für eure Stimme verantwortlich! Deshalb seid euch wirklich sicher, dass ihr den gutturalen Gesang erlernen wollt!
To Hadi, and Will Just got some time and started talking about bunch of stuff around.. I don't know man, hope you guys understand my asian accentsss
She CAN scream. People say "If she can scream so well why doesn't she do it?" She DOES do it but there's no backing track so it doesn't sound good. That's like saying an electric guitar sounds terrible without plugging it in.
My first video on how to scream is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqWlZKnrcwg Thanks for watching. Subscribe if you want to see more. -JamesSerenade
would you like to learn how to fry scream? maybe i can assit you in this tutorial. im not a teacher but this vocal lesson is an attempt to share my technique. i have no tonsils. i had a tonsillectomy at a young age so that may have an effect on my personal sound. everyone sounds differently when doingmetal vocals. just make sure you dont try to scream with a dry throat and dont push yourself to hard. if you truly want to learn then you will get it. just have patience and determination! rate commment and subscribe! let me know if i didnt explain something fully! feel free to ask questions! leave comments!!
an important message BTW: Alright, so time to time I get idiots on YouTube commenting my looks...I guess they don't understand that I do metal, not fashion shoots. Either way, I'll get comments like "you need to grow your hair out" or "your beard looks stupid" or "you're fat" well, here's the thing...metal isn't pretty...and out of boredom I have listen below several screamers for bands who guess what? are chubby, have beards, and/or have short hair! Turns out I haven't invented this :( It is called Fry vocals. Most of the vides on youtube seem to be pretty naff at explaining how to do this technique, and i hope this video isn't one of them! Using the space between normal singing and falcetto singing, it utilises both the false and forward vocal chords, and makes them vibrate at the same time, whilst pushing air through them. It isn't your typical screamo or growl stuff, and it takes some getting used to due to the tone and timbre of the sound produced, but my band will be experimenting with this technique in the future, so look out for it on some of our tracks.
This goes into more detail on the pencil technique because some people were confused.
history of screaming, why do you want to scream?, 3 executions
Follow me on Twitter: http://twitter.com/wackywaferjg THIS VIDEO IS A TUTORIAL ON HOW TO SCREAM!!! I AM NOT INHALING, BTW.... I ALSO COVER SOME MISUNDERSTANDINGS. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ASK QUESTIONS. I'LL MAKE ANOTHER VIDEO IF I HAVE TO! PLEASE RATE, COMMENT, AND SUBSCRIBE. THANK-YOU!
this video was taken by my sister yeah so i apologize for the little girl voice in the background and the camera wobbling everywhere but i hope it helps
This lesson teaches you how to scream. The screaming I do in this video is not "fry" screaming, but it uses what they call fry in order to do it. If you wish to be informed when more of these lessons come out, feel free to subscribe! :] P.S... I was sick when I recorded this so the screams were a little off sounding.
Caution! This technique is NOT standard BM vocals! This is a vocal effect that is useful for getting more raspy, Shagrath-esque vocals. Using this technique too much can damage your voice! I'll be making a video on the standard technique soon.
This is the Melissa Cross "fry" technique which many people don't use for being "quiet". REAL bands use fry. In fact, Matt Tuck of Bullet for my Valentine was a student of Melissa Cross and he himself admitted to me when I met him that he uses it. Alone? Yeah fry won't sound killer. With a blaring band ONLY the distortion is heard and you'll be letting out some crazy screams with EASE. Think about it. Use fry.
I've been seeing so many vocal lessons and i just cant get over how 99% of these guys cant even do what they are trying to show you how to do. I dont practice screams much anymore but even so i think you should learn something.
Well I just got over being sick and my throat is still tickling me so I probably shouldn't' have even made this video but I got tired of not making any haha. This video is part of my Beginner Guide (BG) series. This video is a LOT of explanation so if all you want to see is the screaming fast forward to 6:45. This video explains my 3 types of scream execution: -Power Exhale -Vocal Fry -Inhale I'll be making better videos once I'm 100% healthy
I wrote to Melissa Cross asking her to enlighten me on the vocal fry compared to my scream. She actually wrote me back! This video touches base on our conversation.

I wrote to Melissa Cross asking her to enlighten me on the vocal fry compared to my scream. She actually wrote me back! This video touches base on our conversation. Sorry this video ended so abruptly, my camera messed up. After I screamed I just said, "that uses vocal cords since there's still voice in it"

FIRST SCREAM - USING M.CROSS VOCAL FRY. SECOND SCREAM - USING MY EXHALE just a quick video showing the difference between the MC fry and my exhale scream. I've been told many bands use MC's scream, that I simply have no perfected her type of scream. So if any of you have videos where you use her scream please send them to me and if you can explain it better that'd be awesome.
I thought id post my contribution to this recent "how to scream" style videos. This is a small technique im not too good at, that i call the Power Fry that could be useful for ur heavy rock repetoiré
Just learnt this technique today, by trial and error :P A very short explenation of how to do Gutturals Deep SCREAMS and (trying to do) pig squeals, basically only using vocal fry method... It's basically just a guttural scream now. Since I can't 'bree' it correctly yet. But it's low and sounds quite brutal. Guttural GROWLS however, sound even way more brutal. Couldn't do them untill a few months after this vid... I'll make a vid about them real gutturals too if I get the chance. EDIT: THESE ARE SCREAMS!! For 'real' gutturals and pig squeels you'll need to GROWL and not SCREAM. When I get my cam back I'll show you guys the difference!
(plz read) first of all, this is all EXHALING VOCAL FRY. this is a realllly old video. ill have a better one up soon. it was originally for a school project, so its reallly informative. more info than most of u care about lol. most of the shit i talk about is from Melissa Cross. i just sum it up in a less "beat around the bush" fashion. let me know if u have any questions or ideas of what i should expand on more in future vids. RATE MY VID PLZ. and subscribe if u want. ill have more/better vids up soon.
***EDIT: This video has for some reason been cut off at 47 seconds and I'll be attempting to upload the full version again very soon. Youtube is gay...or my pc...or both.*** This is the vocal fry video I promised everyone ages ago, sorry it took so long =/ It is SO hot in my room at the moment, so sorry if I forgot anything or wasn't too clear. I also had both windows open and was quite close to the camera/mic so I'm not sure how clear it's gonna be. I hope this video helps, and as usual if you have any questions or comments, lemme know. Peace X
These should be done before screaming or when waking up in the morning. They may look and sound stupid but they are VERY important. If your throat is not properly "stretched" you could hurt yourself.
Here you learn about which pitch is good for your voice. The wrong pitch could lead to not learning this properly.
Simple video on how to do loud vocal fry and how it sounds. I know this video is too simple, and that i'm ugly, no need to tell me that ^^ However I will make more detailled video this weekend, with more explaining etc... Thx for watching!
***OTHER VERSION*** The key question: How achievement not to damage my vocal cords to sing? How do I use the diaphragm and throat do not get tired so much and that hurts the voice? RTA 1: Breathing and store the oxygen in your stomach without making moves on your torso that would imply that breathe with the thorax. We must practice constantly. usually by breathing, and your shoulders do not move like the torso and then explulsas oxygen slowly until completely empty oxygen from your diaphragm. This is a very laborious, then you can sing and have a lot to keep tienpo musical notes. ANOTHER OPTION: The distortion made by the soundman is very important because it prevents distortions much your voice and you hurt so severely.
*** OTHER VERSION *** Question 3: I am a girl of 20 years interested in some tips to sing guttural, is that the best is difficult to explain how to do it, but I like to learn vocal technique. Since I want to know as breathing, posture correct, both of the body such as the projection of voice, the q senzacion should be achieved to get the result and their care, I want to start from scratch. RTA3: There are two techniques to carry out a guttural voice sings on in inalación and another exalación which is the most common, in whatever form is necessary that the soundman who operates the console but the voice distortions in the output and add all the "noise" possible. Before you start you should take air through the nose and a release saying "mmh" and making the sound with undulations. Put your tongue on the palate and lower jaw down as much as possible. inflates many faxiales cheeks!! slowly ... then do so with sound, where songs pon force in the stomach and brings the sound near the teeth .. but in the case of guttural power LNA increases in the throat without spoiling but be careful, use a spoon with honey and lemon and drink cold water while not sing, do not do it in the winter and not try to exert a note .. this can be very serious. is very important that at the end of each sentence take much air to the nose and take it to the diaphragm, while maintaining and progressively gonna sing .. not breathe through your mouth because the dry.
****OTHER VERSION**** Question 4: I am a beginner and I want to know step by step how guttural singing? RTA 4a: Exalead placing your vocal cords to sing and sing as low but the emlidas a different tone which was meant merely as close as possible over your vocal cords to sing and modular. In practice it is much easier than this explanation.
