Literally "beautiful singing", bel canto opera derives from the Italian stylistic singing school of the same name. Bel canto lines are typically florid and intricate, requiring supreme agility and pitch control. The bel canto era style was rapidly popularized by Giuseppe Verdi, beginning with his biblical opera Nabucco. Verdi's operas resonated with the growing spirit of Italian nationalism in the post-Napoleonic era, and he quickly became an icon of the patriotic movement (although his own politics were perhaps not quite so radical). In the early 1850s, Verdi produced his three most popular operas: Rigoletto, Il trovatore and La traviata. But he continued to develop his style, composing perhaps the greatest French Grand opera, Don Carlos, and ending his career with two Shakespeare-inspired works, Otello and Falstaff, which reveal how far Italian opera had grown in sophistication since the early 19th century. After Verdi, the sentimental "realistic" melodrama of verismo appeared in Italy. This was a style introduced by Pietro Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana and Ruggiero Leoncavallo's Pagliacci that came virtually to dominate the world's opera stages with such popular works as Giacomo Puccini's La Boheme, Tosca, and Madama Butterfly. Later Italian composers, such as Berio and Nono, have experimented with modernism IL BEL CANTO LIRICO DI ITALIA L'Associazione "Il Bel Canto" programma le proprie attività concertistiche in Italia e nel mondo. Screaming Techniques

This is an overview on some of the screams I do that 'sound like Alexi' from Children Of Bodom. I just woke up, so give me a break lol. In this video, I discuss a few of my influences, mainly Alexi lol, and I also show how I do my vocals for "Needled 24/7" by Children Of Bodom. It's my first vocal lesson, I would call it more of an intro to my vocals, but eh..Comments are welcome! The camera quality is bad and hopefully I will be able to release MUCH BETTER ones in the future! Just KEEP ROCKIN'!!!!

Fat Tony's beatbox tutorials - Abra / crab scratch (guest hosted by LuckeyMonkey)

I don't like the Abra scratch but it seemed that every other message I received was requesting a tutorial for one. I really don't like the scratch at all. I don't like how it sounds, I don't like that everybody thinks it's the greatest thing since sliced bread, I don't like anything about it. I didn't want to do an Abra scratch tutorial. So I didn't. This is my girlfriend, the incredibly talented LuckeyMonkey. It's her first beatbox tutorial as well, and I may well ask her to do some more in the future. Check her out at http://www.youtube.com/luckeymonkey - subscribe, check her videos, etc. The Abra scratch is also commonly called the crab scratch, finger scratch, and transformation scratch. To make the sound: 1 - Make a kissy face 2 - Put your finger against your lip (or, indeed, any part of your hand / arm / foot) 3 - Inhale whilst breathing words like "too" or "tooka" 4 - Use uvular oscillation and clickrolls to add rolls to the scratch 5 - Put into a beat 6 - Note that there are a massive variety of ways you can do this sound. The finger and thumb method described is the most common when it comes to putting the sound into a beat because it's possible to do it whilst holdinga microphone. Hope you enjoy the video, more guest videos may well come in the future. Updated on a tentative weekly schedule (I say tentative because let's face it, stuff goes wrong - I get ill, or my camera explodes, or my laptop transforms and leaves me) this series will teach you the ins and outs of beatboxing, as well as some ups and downs and even a few lefts and rights. Please feel free to hit the subscribe button, or leave a comment mentioning my awesomeness. If you would like help with the sounds or feedback on your beats, post a video response showing the sound as you are doing it, and I will be happy to give feedback. The Act of Teaching

Teachers can convey their ideas more powerfully if they take time to improve their presentation skills. In The Act of Teaching, Nancy Houfek, Head of Voice and Speech for the American Repertory Theatre at Harvard University, leads a workshop that stresses the importance of communication with the whole self in order to reach an audience. Throughout the workshop, she introduces participants to the same techniques that actors use to prepare and deliver a performance, including warm-ups, relaxation, strengthening, and visualizing exercises. In Part I, Theater Techniques for Classroom and Presentation, Houfek focuses on overcoming stage fright, knowing your objectives, and "landing your message." In Part 2, Physical and Vocal Exercises, she leads teachers through 20 minutes of exercises specifically designed to prepare them for the physical challenges of the classroom, beginning with "Waking Up the Body," and moving to vocal warm-ups that treat the voice as an instrument requiring care. Together, these techniques and exercises present a new set of resources that greatly broaden the avenues we customarily use in communicating with colleagues and students. Fat Tony's beatbox tutorials - Easier bongo

The bongo drum was a little tricky for some of you, so here is a far easier way of making a bongo sound. See if you find it any easier. There aren't really any beats to practice here so just watch the original bongo tutorial - like I say, I'm ill at the moment. Sorry for the lateness! How to make the sound: 1 - Learn the inward K 2 - Do the inward K sound with a low pitched "ew" sound immediately afterwards 3 - This sounds kinda naff by itself, so put it into a beat Updated on a tentative weekly schedule (I say tentative because let's face it, stuff goes wrong - I get ill, or my camera explodes, or my laptop transforms and leaves me) this series will teach you the ins and outs of beatboxing, as well as some ups and downs and even a few lefts and rights. Please feel free to hit the subscribe button, or leave a comment mentioning my awesomeness. If you would like help with the sounds or feedback on your beats, post a video response showing the sound as you are doing it, and I will be happy to give feedback. Fat Tony's beatbox tutorials - Thank you

My, what a week. This is just a video thanking everybody for the great support, as well as the reason these videos are very late. The Roxorloops video being featured really was amazing - I still cannot believe it, if I'm honest. It's brilliant though, and I welcome every single new viewer I have as a result. Fat Tony's beatbox tutorials - Tongue clop

Hmm hopefully this clears up some confusion. This is a very quiet sound. It sounds far better into a microphone than without, put it that way. The "pouring water" is a great thing to do, it's very simple and fun. How to make the sound: 1 - Curl your tongue back without touching the top of your mouth 2 - Flick your tongue downwards so it hits the floor of your mouth 3 - This can be done while humming or with an open throat to make it hollow sounding. Fat Tony's beatbox tutorials - Fast hi-hats

Fast hi-hats. Now you can beatbox fast. Woo for you. I'll have a video with beats to practice when I do the next tutorials. Woulda done one this time but five vids at once would have been majorly overkill. How to make the sound: 1 - Say "tikka", then take away the "ih" and "ah" so you just get a "tk" sound 2 - Notice how you use the front of your tongue for the "t" and the back of your tongue for the "k". This is what allows you to make the tktk sound so fast 3 - Go tktktktk as fast or as slow as you want - sorted Updated on a tentative weekly schedule (I say tentative because let's face it, stuff goes wrong - I get ill, or my camera explodes, or my laptop transforms and leaves me) this series will teach you the ins and outs of beatboxing, as well as some ups and downs and even a few lefts and rights.
